Exponential increases in cosmetic procedures

Did you know…

We’ve gotten more vain as the years progress. Breast Augmentation is, by far, the most popular form of invasive cosmetic surgery. In 1992, there were only about 33,000 breast augmentations performed. By 2007, that number skyrocketed to 333,000.

Another trend in cosmetic surgery is facial fillers. Collagen injections in 1992 leveled out around 42,000. By 2007, that number had fallen to just over 19,000, while the number of hyaluronic acid fillers, like Juvederm and Captique, had risen to a staggering 317,000!

By the numbers, there were a total of nearly 320,500 invasive procedures in 1992. Compared to the over 1.23 million in 2007, that’s a 287% increase in procedures. When we look at minimally invasive procedures for 1992, there were only about 69,000. In 2007, however, that number rose exponentially to 2.9 million! We’re now talking a whopping 4,142% increase!
